WAVA Mentoring Program Are you a new or beginning Director of Career and Technical Education? Are you a part time administrator? Are you an administrator or teacher who has been assigned the duties of Career and Technical Education Director? If you would like assistance from a mentor in learning how to administer Career and Technical Education programs, along with all of the requirements, look below and find out about the Mentor Program. For more information, contact Jay Leviton WAVA Mentoring Program NEED: WAVA membership is increasing by a large number of people who have the responsibility for Career and Technical Education programs, but are part time or no-time administrators. Many are part time and share the administrative responsibility with teaching or other administrative responsibilities. Others have full time responsibilities, with Career and Technical programs as an add-on, secondary to their primary responsibilities. WAVA recognizes the need to offer a defined system to serve these individuals, in addition to the services provided by OSPI. The following proposal is submitted for OSPI and WAVA's consideration: WAVA Mentoring Program PROPOSAL: OSPI and the WAVA Executive Committee will identify individuals who are considered "experts" in one or more of the following areas: Certification Salary Placement Legislative Process/Issues Teacher Training Programs Industry Skill Standards Standards Integration P 210Vo Work Based Learning Career & Tech Ed Standards Perkins Program Approval; Consolidated Program Review MENTOR CRITERIA: 1. Mentors have a strong and supportive philosophy of Career and Technical Education. 2. Mentors have a proven record of success in Career and Technical Education. 3. Mentors must be knowledgeable of operational issues and have the ability to effectively communicate with others regarding these topics. 4. Mentors are willing to respond to WAVA members with Career and Technical Education responsibilities who request assistance. 5. Mentors are willing to have their name, address, phone number, and E-mail addresses available on the WAVA website.
