Breon is the Senior Director of Development for Performance Instruction and Training, LLC (PIT). He is responsible for the creation and delivery of presentations that correlate the similarities between high-performing motorsports pit crews and successful business practices in the corporate and industrial sectors.
Merging his background in collegiate athletics and business management, Breon speaks from the motorsports perspective to advocate businesses realizing bottom-line results with less waste and increased productivity by planning, preparing, and executing with the precision and quality of a pit crew.
Businesses that have engaged with Breon and PIT include United Airlines, Coca-Cola, Lilly Pharmaceuticals, Northrop Grumman Ship Building, Intel, ConocoPhillips, United States Air Force, Association of Air Medical Services, American Society of Training and Development, and more.
Breon is the founder of 5 OFF 5 ON Race Team Performance and served as president until its acquisition by PIT in 2003. He served as pit crew coordinator for teams in the USAR®, ARCA®, and NASCAR® racing series.
As architect of Pit Crew U, the professional pit crew-training division of PIT, Breon has overseen the training of more than 600 individuals from 48 states and 4 countries outside the United States. Pit Crew U program graduates excel in the highest levels of motorsports and include series championships in all the top series of NASCAR®. Pit Crew U alumni are recognized annually with individual and team honors in the NASCAR® All Star Pit Crew Challenge. At least nine former students and staff members have advanced to coaching positions within the NASCAR® ranks.
Breon is also a contributor to the "The Complete Idiot's Guide to NASCAR®" and “365 Low or No Cost Workplace Team Building Activities” books.
PIT has received media features by ABC Good Morning America, CNN, NBC Nightly News, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, and ESPN Magazine.
PIT programs have received local and national accolades including the Elliott Masie Learning Consortium Learning Leadership Award, Business North Carolina Small Business of the Year Award Runner-up, and North Carolina Motorsports Association Trade School Education Award Finalist.

Has your Area Group submitted an application for the WAVA CTE Outstanding Administrator of the Year?  

The selected Administrator of the Year will function as an Ambassador for Career & Technical Education for the State of Washington by representing our professional organization at various functions throughout the year. WAVA has agreed to select various functions and provide financial support if necessary to ensure the award recipient’s participation at the identified events.

The selected candidate’s information will automatically be forwarded to WA-ACTE for consideration as Outstanding Career & Technical Educator of the Year.

The Phyllis Lawson Scholarship Now Available PDF Print E-mail

In October of 2007, WAVA officially changed the name of its scholarship to the PHYLLIS LAWSON SCHOLARSHIP. This dedication and honor represents the years of outstanding service, leadership, knowledge and commitment to CTE on behalf of such a phenomenal person.....Phyllis Lawson. 

Two scholarships will be awarded to two Washington State candidates, one for each of the following categories: 

1.     A graduating high school senior who has distinguished him/herself in the field of Career and Technical Education during high school

2.     A post-high school student in one of the following Teacher Preparation programs:

a.    Third or fourth year student in a Career and Technical Education Teacher Education Program (Baccalaureate Degree)
b.    An individual who is pursuing Type II (industry-based) CTE Teacher Certification
